CONSTRUCTION PHASE – December to May
How will the construction work affect residents?
The ground screw foundations are being installed in the first week of December.
On two days in December 2025 / January 2026, lorries will deliver the whole prefabricated building. Apart from that, only small vans will be coming to the site, and parking on the site itself. We will give advance notice of the large deliveries.
Construction will continue until April. The construction team’s standard practice is to work only during daylight hours, and only Monday to Friday. (If any exceptional Saturday working is needed, we notify residents in advance.)
After the constructors’ work is complete, the Trustee team and other volunteers will fit out the hall and kitchen, and work on the garden.
How eco-friendly Is Radley Rotunda?
The timber-frame construction has a very low carbon footprint, as it uses no concrete for its foundations. The heating will be by air-source heat pump.
ONCE THE ROTUNDA IS UP AND RUNNING
We aim to be ready to open in June.
How will I book the hall?
Our online booking system will go live around Easter2026. Until then, contact us to discuss bookings on radleyrotunda@gmail.com.
What about parking?
We expect many hirers to be local and therefore able to walk or cycle to the venue., and the Rotunda car park has 10 dedicated spaces (5 more than the planning regulations require). But we do appreciate that for larger bookings, there may be some overspill into the Lawns visitor parking spaces. Our booking T+Cs will instruct users to respect the needs of residents. We will regularly monitor the impact and adjust our T+Cs and booking policy if needed.
What about noise?
The booking T and Cs will state that no music or noise is allowed to be audible after 10.00 pm.
What about security?
The side of the building facing away from houses will have security cameras.
